The Institute of Economics and Finance of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW was established on October 1, 2019.

The Institute was established as a research unit from the Faculty of Economic Sciences (previously named: Faculty of Economics and Agriculture, Faculty of Engineering and Economics of Agriculture), which was established in 1953. Thus, the Institute is a direct successor and trustee of the scientific heritage as well as a continuator of the research activities of the Faculty.

Having in mind the tradition of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW and taking into account contemporary challenges, the Institute of Economics and Finance operates in the field of social sciences, in the scientific discipline of economics and finance. As a developing research unit, the Institute of Economics and Finance strives for the highest qyality of scientific research as well as knowledge transfer through educating students, cooperation with national and foreign scientific institutions, and also with the local, national and international partners.

The domain of the Institute of Economics and Finance is scientific research at the micro, meso and macro level concerning economic, financial, social and environmental issues, related in particular to the processes taking place in the agri-food economy and in rural areas as well as in their immediate and further surroundings.

 The Institute of Economics and Finance of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences takes care of the observance of the highest ethical norms and academic standards.
