The Institute of Economics and Finance of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) was established on October 1, 2019. The Institute was established as a result of the organizational reform of the University. As part of it, institutes have been selected from the current basic organizational units of the University – faculties, with the primary objective to focus on the scientific and research activities. Faculties remained within the structure of the university as units involved mainly in education.

The Institute of Economics and Finance has been separated from the Faculty of Economic Sciences (formerly – the Faculty of Engineering Economics of Agriculture, the Faculty of Agricultural Economics), which was established in 1956. Thus, the Institute is a direct successor and trustee of the scientific legacy and a continuator of the Faculty’s research activities.

The basic role of the Institute of Economics and Finance is conducting scientific research in the field of broadly understood economics from various perspectives of socio-economic development, including key processes of sustainable development.

The Institute of Economics and Finance of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW operates within the scientific discipline Economics and Finance. The Institute is a dynamically developing academic center conducting research in the field of economics, finance, logistics as well as tourism and recreation.
